We are still being fed “The Governments version of the TRUTH” about incidents in Iraq. Sadly today’s “Media Mafia” seems to be content to let Big Brother control the flow of information.

 
A full one-third of women veterans report rape or attempted rape during their time in the military. The investigation into these incidents are often more like a cover-up story than a fully transparent investigation. A good example of the cloaked “government truth” type of investigation is illustrated by what happened in Pfc LaVena Johnson’s case.

Pfc LaVena Johnson was a 19-year-old soldier, found with a broken nose, black eye, loose teeth, acid burns on her genitals [presumably to eliminate DNA evidence of rape] , a trail of blood leading away from her tent and a bullet hole in her head. Unbelievably Army investigators ruled her death a suicide.

I”M STILL ANGRY about Vietnam and Kent State …

I was just teeny bopper flower child in 1970 but I remember Kent State, desegregation, race riots and protesting the war. Back then no one wanted to be a “gangsta” (unless they were already real gangsters), young people wanted peace and equal rights. We understood that change meant peaceful protesting and organized sit ins and marches across the country to stop the war. In 1970 the National Guard did not seem to understand the concept of a “Peaceful” protest and SHOT UNARMED STUDENTS .

EWG, the author of the bottled water score card, which is mentioned in the the article, is the same group which recently released the hexavalent chromium results for tap water. They are definitely worth watching. I was wondering about the bottled water, so at least we have a partial answer. This is really a case of the end justifies the means for the US government­. By trolling through massive amounts of private data that they are not entitled to see, by sneaking around looking for compliant companies willing to violate us, they hope to find some accusation against Manning, Assange, or Wikileaks. If they find some offense, then they will trumpet it out with great fanfare to justify the fact that they have shredded the Bill of Rights in the process. For war criminals, the smallest violation justifies any barbarity in response. Our leaders.

ACLU: "Internet users should receive notice, and an opportunity to go to court to defend their constitutional rights, before their rights are compromised."

I was very happy to read this, which is just what I was thinking. The subpoena is an abuse, and making it secret is a second abuse. The governmental war- and torture-mongering mass-killers should be pursued with such vigor, except one supposes that they would never submit themselves to such an outrage and violation as these twitterers have received. It is after all, an unconstitutional violation, and we see the grand jury deployed as an instrument of criminality itself.

A dangerous Internet blacklist bill called the Combating Online Infringement and Copyrights Act is moving through Congress. The bill would give the government the power to force Internet service providers to block your access to certain sites. It's shockingly similar to what happens in places like China and Iran -- and it's the kind of thing that's just not supposed to happen here. One bold Senator -- Oregon's Ron Wyden -- made it clear that he's on our side: He put what's known as a hold on the bill, blocking it from passage this session.

But the big business lobby is putting lots of pressure on him to back down -- the bill will almost certainly be taken up anew when the Senate reconvenes, and we need him and other Senators to stand strong.
