Project News for GNU-Darwin Distribution
Darwin-6.0.1
I've been out of touch for a couple of weeks, but I'm back. In the
meantime, Apple released a new Darwin version for ppc.

x86 is promised soon. Expect some significant announcements from
GNU-Darwin in the next week or two.

html2rss converter
This code is like the thing which should not be, but it is producing
fairly nice results. I'm using it to collate email forums, which makes
it even worse. Have a look.

Dave Winer and a large crowd of people will be blowing smoke out of
their ears. ;-} The code will be released GPL as soon as some poor soul
wants to look at it.

Apple USES DMCA
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/08/29/130209It has got to be a mistake, because any company so clueless
as to use the DMCA is total garbage. Perhaps Apple wants a return to their
bad old closed platform days, which caused the FSF boycott. This
manuver will certainly damage the relationship with the free software
community, and it is high time that we made our own DVD drivers. As always, forward this message as you like.

GNU-Darwin: NetBSD pkgsrc
NetBSD has put some good work into making pkgsrc Darwin compatible, and GNU-Darwin has added some
refinements for greater compatibility with the Distribution.
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/gnu-darwin/pkgsrc/
Now you can have a ports and a pkgsrc directory for your Apple computer, or choose as you like.
