Oil Spill Lawsuits: BP Spending Big To Acquire An Army Of Expert Witnesses

This really illustrates how problematic non-disclosure agreements are. Fortunately there are scientists who are not bound by such agreements. Here is an exercise for budding young scientists. Let's form a truth squad.

Obama sez the new equipment could contain up to 80,000 barrels a day, nearly all the oil that was leaking. Marketplace reported that the pressure in the well reached as high as 9000 psi. Watch out though. They have a huge financial bias to report that the well infrastructure is undamaged. Look up petroleum viscosity. You might be able to find it with Google, petroleum viscosity - Google Search http://ping.fm/COLn8.

Use the numbers to calculate the diameter of the well bore, and compare the result with published reports. You should be able to provide an accurate estimate of the total amount of oil that spilled into the gulf. Report your finding.
