  • GNU-Darwin: an attack on Iran

Any attack on the military of Iran would be a clear act of war against
Iran, whatever the purpose. This is an obvious military fact. In order
to attack Iran from the air it will be necessary to attack the radar of
the country, which is a military installation, so that any air attack on
Iran must be reciprocated in order to prevent a further attack. It
    follows on directly.

Only the US possesses the necessary intelligence to knock out Iran's
radar installations and enable an air attack. It is also arguable that
the US is the only actor that has the means to carry out such an
attack. In this scheme, Iran is clearly justified in responding in
kind to any attack on a military target in order to thwart it and
    prevent a future attack.

If you think that this argument is wrong in some way, then you must
also consider the US response to 9/11 as wrong. Many do.

Finally, I want to thank our many users who have taken the opportunity
in recent weeks to support GNU-Darwin with orders and subscriptions.
    It is truly inspiring.

  • GNU-Darwin: blackout warning

Happy Memorial Day. I was deeply troubled by the following story, and I
hope that everyone receiving this message will read it.

To Admiral William Fallon (USN ret.), With Respect
Open Appeal for Straight Talk on Iran
    http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/05/20/9068/

I would like to remind people that there will be an American reaction
to a US attack on Iran, and that reaction will not be positive. For
example, there will be immediate standing moratoriums, and GNU-Darwin
will black out appropiately, so that people can be about the business of
stopping wrong action against Iran. Other actions will follow.

On this day, of all days, we must hold in remembrance the wrongful
attacks, invasion, and occupation of Iraq, and the calamity and death
that they have caused. Never again.

    proclus

  • A product for Thailand's new pharmacutical industry

Thai black rice has the highest anthocyanin content of any cereal grain
that I have been able to find. Anthocyanin shares many properties with
resveratrol and Sirtris' product, SRT501, and it is likely to be a drop
in replacement for them. This rice, which is abundantly produced in
Thailand, is so rich in anthocyanin content, that it will be cheap and
easy to extract it for pharmaceutical uses by the local industry there.
It is also likely to have a very wide range of beneficial medicinal
uses, in contrast to narrowly targeted SIRT501. Here below is the
reference that I used. It includes an extraction protocol (which needs
    some optimization). Cheers!

It is also very tasty indeed!
