Stop Shell

Dear Friend,

Activists in New Zealand are blocking the departure of a drill ship
bound for the Alaskan Arctic, exposing Shell's efforts to move their
operations to one of the last pristine environments on the planet.

I've already joined these activists and sent a message to Shell
myself. You can do the same by clicking on the link below... has shared: Stop the NDAA!

Tell President Obama: It's time to lead on climate.

Dear Friend,

Six months ago, the Obama Administration was set to approve one of the
single most environmentally disastrous fossil fuel projects imaginable.

Today, it's dead.

But President Obama didn't reject the Keystone XL pipeline because he
wanted to. Or because he thought it was the right thing to do. Or because
he thought it would help his reelection campaign. He rejected it because
our activism made him do it.

But because the President rejected the pipeline on the narrow technicality
of the Republicans' 60 day timeline, in no way has he set down a clear
marker against the pipeline or the carbon bomb that burning Canadian tar
sands oil in China represents.

The time to lead us away from dirty fuels and prevent escalating global
catastrophes from climate change is here. And President Obama still can.

Tell President Obama: It's time to lead on climate. Make the case in your
State of the Union Address. Sign the petition here:

60 days to reject Keystone XL

Dear Friend,

It's on.

Congress has agreed to a two-month payroll tax and unemployment extension
bill that forces a decision on the Keystone XL Pipeline, and by all
accounts President Obama will sign it.

Republicans have gotten their wish -- President Obama will have 60 days to
decide on the Keystone XL Pipeline.

And we have 60 days to make sure he rejects it.

This is a moment to pour the pressure on. I just signed a petition asking
President Obama to reject the Keystone XL Pipeline. Add your name and

Wall Street's insider trading loophole

Both houses of Congress passed the STOCK Act, the bill that would stop congressional insider trading.

But the version that passed in the House is substantially weaker than the version that passed in the Senate. House Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Va.) did his campaign funders on Wall Street a huge favor by including a loophole for lobbyists and hedge fund managers who trade on congressional insider information.

We can defeat Cantor’s loophole, which would allow Wall Street’s minions to prowl the halls of Congress in search of insider info that can be turned to cash on the stock market.

Show your support for a strong STOCK Act.

Help stop an unnecessary and costly war with Iran.

Dear Friend,

Just as we're ending two wars, the drums of war have started beating for a third.

The American people oppose attacking Iran. But the media and the political elites seem to have learned nothing from Iraq.

Once again, the conventional wisdom in D.C. has been shaped by lies and blatant propaganda. And in some circles, the shrill cry for war is once again drowning out the voice of reason.

Fortunately, two members of Congress -- Keith Ellison (D-MN) and Walter Jones (R-NC) -- have written a bipartisan letter urging President Obama to pursue diplomatic means necessary to avoid an unnecessary and costly war with Iran.

Reps. Ellison and Jones have asked their colleagues to sign the letter.

I just told my member of Congress to co-sign the Ellison-Jones letter. I hope you do, too.

You can find out more about this and easily take action at the link below.

Tell Congress: Only people are people.

Dear Friend,

The Citizens United vs. FEC Supreme Court decision overturned over a century of precedent and opened the floodgates for unlimited amounts of corporate money to flow into our political system.

Shockingly, the court came to this decision based on the notion that a corporation is legally a "person" entitled to First Amendment rights, and by equating a corporation's right to spend unlimited amounts of money influencing an election with our right to free speech.

Tell your senators and member of Congress to support a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and end corporate personhood.

Deadline Tuesday: Save the honey bees!

Dear Friend,

Since 2006, U.S. honey bee populations have been in precipitous decline, with some estimates suggesting losses as high as 30% per year. While that's terrible, the problem is far greater than just the loss of a species. Without bees, our food supply is in serious danger. Pollination by honey bees is key in cultivating the crops that produce a full one-third of our food.

A leaked memo suggests the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has ignored the science linking the pesticide clothianidin to the bee die-off.

Now the EPA is considering whether to renew approval of clothianidin. Submit a comment asking EPA to reject this dangers chemical that is killing honey bees - hurry, the comment period closes on Tuesday:

Tell Walmart: Don't sell #Monsanto's potentially toxic #GMO sweet corn - #OccupyMonsanto

Subject: Tell Walmart: Don't sell Monsanto's potentially toxic GMO sweet corn
Dear Friend,

This spring, Monsanto's GMO sweet corn -- their first product for direct human consumption -- will be getting planted for the first time.

Then it will be sold, unlabeled, in a grocery store near you.

To stop it, we'll need significant opposition from food sellers to this untested, potentially toxic product. Walmart is the largest food retailer in the country, but they have no plans to reject Monsanto's GMO sweet corn.

I just signed a petition urging Walmart to take a stand for consumer saftey, and reject Monsanto's GMO sweet corn before it's planted. You can add your name here:
